Terry Myhre

My mother, Terry Myhre, is the most beautiful woman I have ever known. She raised three children on her own (my father a severe alcoholic) while battling bouts of domestic abuse. She never ‘threw in the towel’, even when bills were piling up and food was scarce; she used her wit, know-how and several resources to keep our household going. I remember one summer I wanted to go to Bible Camp so very badly with my best friend and we didn’t have the money. I cried and carried on like an irrational unruly 11 year old (which to this day I regret) but I could see the hurt in my mother’s eyes declining my dream for the summer. She then grabbed her penny jar which she accumulated from many months of tips at her local waitress job. She was attempting to save for a rainy day. This was no rainy day, minus the tears from her bratty daughter. She counted those pennies, and it was just enough to send me to Bible Camp (was there a little Divine Intervention there? I still believe in miracles!).
I’ll never forget all the sacrifices and the many, many bouts of tumultuous battles with my father. In the end she won, she won my heart and my loyalty, however I really don’t think my brothers and I will ever fully understand the magnitude to her selflessness. I love you with every inch of my being Mother.
Your daughter
